The decision by the Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA) to introduce a new points system has rejuvenated the game and brought in fresh impetus. Over the past year, KTTA took the game to rural schools to generate interest and find new talent. The points system was used to
select the All Africa Games team and will also be used for the Olympic qualifying tournament in Doha, Qatar in May, 2012. The association plans to spread tournaments to smaller towns. The number of tournaments has gone up, training opportunities for officials is on the rise and sponsors continue to support the game.
