Kenya entered its sixth consecutive World Cup in India but lost all the matches to New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada and Pakistan. As a result,Cricket Kenya (CK) embarked on restructuring the team. Coach Eldine Baptise and captain Jimmy Kamande were dropped, while iconic Steve Tikolo retired Kenya also lost the ICC Inter-Continental Cup against United Arab Emirates and the inaugural National Cricket League did not take off.

Even after the appointment of former Otago Volts and New Zealand ‘A’ coach Mike Hesson, Kenya lost to Indian side Andhra Pradesh and the Netherlands in the second match of the ICC Inter-Continental Cup.
